Ahhh, the Golden State. The state that people dream about. With it’s beautiful weather, rich celebs, breathtaking landscape and the infinite amount of things to do, you’ll never be bored. California is a major state and easily the most populous (believe me). But is it really as good as everybody says? I’ve lived here for about 5 years, and here’s what I think.
The People
There are about 40 million people in the state of California. Yeah. 40. freaking. billion. I graduated with around 1,000 students and that’s not even the biggest school. There are people everywhere.
The good thing: You’ll meet all types of people here. There’s a place for everyone and it’s honestly very accepting (most of the time). I love learning about people and learning about different cultures and things. It’s very cool to be in such a diverse place.
The bad thing: There is so. much. traffic. all. the. time. It never fails! Oh! There’s also a significant amount of horrible drivers and slow-pokes. If you’re not goin 80 get out of the fast lane!
Things To Do
There are millions of things to do in California. Literally, millions of things you could be doing. We have hiking, swimming, surfing, shopping, boating, amusement parks, museums, malls, the beach… you name it, we got it.
The good thing: You can never really be bored, there’s a lot to be seen and a lot to learn. I love having places to go and visit, it’s always fun.
The bad thing: It’s. sooo. expensive. I think we all can agree that things here are horribly overpriced. Another thing, there are thousands of other people doing the same thing you’re doing. You will most likely wait in line in restaurants, malls, etc. It sucks when you’re at Disneyland but can only go on 3 rides because all the wait times are over 1.5 hours. Again, so. many. people.
The Weather
This is the part that I think most people get stuck on. The weather here is almost unbeatable. It’s sunny and beautiful and that’s something that most can agree on.
The good thing: The weather is beautiful! You can be outside, having fun, and you can forget about your coat. Nothing beats a beautiful day on the beach with the waves crashing in front of you.
The bad thing: Is there a bad thing about amazing weather? I don’t think so!
